I moved to the Netherlands from NYC in 2015. After spending 6 months backpacking, studying yoga and tantra in India and Thailand, I felt the need to return "home" to Holland. Upon my return, however, the lack of authentic style yoga and tantra courses that were affordable drove me to start up my own open community for people looking to delve deeper on an every day basis.
Shanti is a Sanskrit word that means deep inner peace. The stem word, Sant, as in Santosha, relates to the supreme happiness of contentment; falling in love with ones' life. In principle, my mission is to bring Shanti, the teachings that I have learned in the East, to a Western audience. Using both in modern and traditional fashion, I aim to deliver the core elements Shanti as I have experienced through Buddhist and Tantric practices.
Yoga: Union between the Microcosm of our being and the Macrocosm of the universe.
Of the Yamas and Niyamas, the spiritual guidelines of yoga, I find aparigraha, non-possessiveness/greediness, to be one of the most important. Happiness is not something that can be bought with money but rather can be learned with practice. Yoga is by no means an elitist practice reserved for the wealthy. My objective with Shanti Vibrant Living is to bring a real community wherein everyone can share in something amazing. As this relates to aparagraha, all prices are fair and necessary however comprisable under fair and necessary circumstances. All are welcome.
I moved from New York to the Netherlands in 2015 after living in an off-the-grid community. This was my first love for communities. The idea of working together towards creating something beautiful and sustainable enthralled me.
It was in traveling to Thailand and finding Agama Yoga that I found a different kind of community that I fell in love with. In the teachings of tantra you learn to worship the Shiva and Shakti in others as well as in yourself, as you are all the divine in likeness of each other. I found in this community a deep sense of love and respect, a union of spirit as well as an inspirational independence of mind. This balance is difficult to put into words, though I find it to be a key part of authentic tantra.
This is my inspiration for Shanti Vibrant Living. To be supportive yet not dependent on the other members of your community, to love them deeply, unconditionally, without attachment or possessiveness. To build a thick bond between community members based on principles of unconditional love, mutual respect, spiritual evolution, kindness, righteousness, and harmony. Using this community to bring light and love and all of these things to the surrounding community and raise the vibration is my long-term goal. In the short term, I would like to act as a vessel, bringing the lessons of Agama to the Netherlands, with love and sunshine.
Om Namah Shivaya!
